For all insurance professionals, creating accurate reports should be a top priority, and the only way to ensure an accurate report is to have accurate data. In their Applied Net 2023 session, Christie Smith and Melissa Lukas will expand on the importance of clean data. They will share their expert knowledge and give advice on how to improve current auditing processes. Read on for a preview of what attendees can look forward to.
What is your background on your session’s subject? What excites you most about being in this field?
Christie Smith (CS): In 2016, I started as the reconciliation specialist at OTIP, and one of the primary responsibilities of that role is managing download and troubleshooting whenever there are problems. Soon after, I also became an Epic Super User which allowed me to become more involved in the configuration aspect of electronic data interchange (EDI) and application programming interface (ADI). I love the fact that this field is always changing! There are always new products or updates that add efficiency to our workflows and enhance the way we do business.
What can attendees look forward to during your session?
CS: Our session is a peek into a process that we use in our agency, so we’ll offer a few tips and tricks that we use to ensure that our data being added to Epic is clean and accurate from the start — our reporting is only as accurate as our data!
Is there a particular topic in your session you think is especially interesting?
Melissa Lukas (ML): It's always important to get users to think about the art of the possible. While we will share what we do at our organization, it should get you thinking about how you can better audit your Epic data in your organization.
What is a highlight or two you hope attendees will take away from your session?
ML: Auditing policies at the new business stage is key to ensure your data is clean. Also, you don't need state-of-the-art technology to complete a simple audit of data.
