‘Epic’ Insights and Growth
Published: July 31, 2019
This year, the anticipated Tri-State Epic Chapter's Appled Epic users' meeting took place May 16–17 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, and proved to be tremendously successful, once again.
The meeting brought together four chapters: New Jersey, Eastern PA, Tri-State Epic and — newly added to the roster — Mid-Atlantic. For the last several years, approximately 65 to 70 attendees, hailing from the invited chapters, have convened on-site to network and expand their knowledge base as it pertains to Epic technology. No matter when the event takes place, the total number of attendees is always consistent.
During the breakout sessions in May, integration tactics became a key focus point. Passionate speakers from each chapter boasted that Epic is ever-expanding and is virtually limitless. For the next few decades, the goal is to become a true leader in Applied Systems technology.
Equally as important, session speakers covered Applied TAM. Given that TAM is often less intuitive, attendees gleaned that continuous cleanouts are vital. Bad data in TAM means bad data in Epic. Additionally, speakers reminded attendees to accept TAM updates as soon as they become available to prevent data corruption. Although the tendency is to transition over to Epic because of the system’s broader capabilities, TAM is still a viable system and Applied Systems supports yearly releases.
Whenever we congregate, the number one resource mentioned by attendees is the opportunity to learn and engage with other users from the Applied Client Network (ACN). In this environment, dumb questions do not exist; the issue is in failing to ask the question. If you have not participated in a local ACN event, I highly recommend it! (You can find your chapter here.)
Looking ahead to next year’s meeting, our region is encouraged to approach the event with an open mind and a readiness to network, because there is always something new to learn.
