When was the last time you took a step away from your work and spent a few moments on self-reflection? As CEO of Applied Client Network, I have great responsibility — and I don’t take it lightly. That’s why I designate time to self-reflect, to question and to evaluate my actions and reactions. I’ve found it’s critical to have this process in place, where I can evaluate and understand what works and what doesn’t as we aim to create unique value for our members.
As leaders, self-reflection can help us both professionally and personally. Take a few minutes today to consider the following thought starters. Even better if you make it a habit to note these at regular intervals.
- Learning — What are my current strengths? What are my weaknesses? How can I improve?
- Personal Growth — What is one thing I can do tomorrow that will help me improve personally? What steps can I take to implement this into a consistent routine?
- Stress Management — How is my current workload? Could I delegate anything to other team members? If not, is there a “light at the end of the tunnel”? What small things can I do this week to reduce stress, even if it’s as simple as eating lunch outside?
- Career — What priorities are important to me at work? Am I enjoying my current role? How can I find a role that aligns with my priorities? Is there any professional development training I could begin incorporating into my week?
Taking time to reflect on our current processes, goals and values is what propelled the Applied Client Network Board of Directors and team to embark on a strategic planning journey. Over the past 18 months, ACN has reimagined the art of the possible for our organization, implementing new changes to align with our strategic initiatives:
-
- As part of updating our technology stack, we have modernized our website and improved usability.
- We’ve built a robust community for EZLynx users, providing these users with an exclusive membership and resources that help them succeed in their roles.
- We’ve established and launched our Member Alliance Program, made up of eight persona-based alliances that are comprised of members with similar job functions and working environments
Although change is never easy, ACN members are embracing these improvements and providing beneficial feedback.
Ultimately, I believe success stems from how you empower others, how you enable your desired outcomes and how you recover when there is a downturn — approaches I reflect on often in my role. From all I’ve seen, ACN members exemplify these qualities. Thanks to all of you, I couldn’t be prouder or more excited about our association’s future. We have a vibrant, growing community where users help users bring the power of one to many.
